a shot of joy - Prasada

I heard one the other day..the birds. One of the things I love about the season change is all the new sensory materials. In spring it’s the sounds of bird singing, the smell of daffodils and the beautiful explosion of colors and textures. It’s a sensory feast that nourishes me in so many ways. Often, we underestimate the power of these things in our live to nurture and heal. As the sun gets brighter each day just know, Mother Nature is in her studio painting away for spring like Santa Claus making toys for Christmas.

The REAL spring is the best thing but our imaginations and images can be almost as good. When we see an image it triggers all the feel good sensations in the brain also. In my home studio I have pictures of summer all around me. My favorite beaches and I just put up the new swimsuit that I’m going to order this year.

About the swimsuit… I need to tell advertisers that I don’t pick a swimsuit because I like how it looks draped on a white background. I pick a suit that is photographed on a real woman who looks like she is having some serious summer fun. Then I keep seeing that woman as me. It’s another trick to help trigger my positive energy and keep me hopeful that soon I too will be basking in the sun at the beach having fun! Plus it helps keep me focused on good food choices at that critical 3:30pm slump.

This week, find an image for your desk that can do that for you. Give your mind that little burst of joy, and hope. Or just sit for a mini-mindfulness break and imagine that favorite wonderful summer place you love. Let that burst of joy flow, know it’s right around the corner, feel the sounds and colors and smells that are so close, and enjoy!

Be well…it’s a state of mind.
