what r u planting?

As we approach the holiday season, it’s not a time that we associate with planting. Yet, in this season there will be unique slivers of time where you’ll be in places, and conversations, that are out of the ordinary. You could fake it through, talk about the weather, complain about Uncle Joe drinking too much, or gossip about the new person who just joined the company.

Or it could be different.

What if words were seeds, given and received, as valuable currency this holiday season?

planting

Imagine seeking out an encounter to talk with someone you know well, or don’t know that well, and this time asking a real question?

What matters to them? What REALLY mattes in their life?

You may get a pregnant pause, and maybe even some fidgeting, or even silence. Maybe a real look you in the eye moment.

Asking the question opens you up, drops the curtain …and then you have to be willing to listen. Really listen. And you have to have thought about what really matters to you…because they just might ask.

What are the words they share with you? And what words do you share with them. Are they about fear and lack of abundance and gratitude?

Words matter. They are seeds we exchange and plant every day. And the way we say them matters too. A fake thank you or bluffing your way through I love you can never really work.

What if every word were a seed that when spoken was released into the air looking for a place to call home.

Would you be happy about the seeds you are spreading?

Would you be happy about the seeds that the others around you are sharing and planting within you?

It’s a choice…words matter.

Here’s to planting wisely this holiday season.
