Joy and glimmer moments
It’s hard for me to recognize it’s already June. Our family celebrated 4 birthdays in May, with my daughter turning 21 yesterday, so here we are.
So much to celebrate, yet at the same time so much heartache too. How it is that life includes such drastic contrasts? How do we keep moving on the days when it feels like too much to bear?
Recently Meg on our team shared an article with me about “glimmer moments“. We often speak of being triggered with fear, anger, or an intense negative response.
Glimmer moments are the opposite.
The glimmer moments are happening within the rush of life’s waters. It’s a practice to keep open to seeing them. I find them in a kind and supportive text from a friend, in seeing a mother gently holding her toddler’s hand to cross a street, and in the bright red cardinal at my birdfeeder.
Joy is having a stream of glimmer moments in your life. It’s not a life of perfection but little kisses of wonder, beauty, and delight that keep us moving, day-to-day.
