It's not what you do, but HOW you do it - Prasada

What does the word PRACTICE mean to you?

In my work, I typically hear the word practice in reference to yoga or meditation; but you can make a practice out of anything. I think of a practice as anything you do consistently for personal and/or spiritual healing, growth, or development. A practice brings you closer to the expansiveness at the center of your being.

A big part of my daily practice is a morning walk.

Unlike a yoga posture, there are no instructions about alignment or form, but walking makes my body strong and happy.

There is no breath technique or rules about when and how to inhale and exhale, but walking helps me connect to my breath more deeply.

There is no single-pointed focus, no discipline to reign in the mind as it wanders, but being out there while the rest of the world is asleep makes me hyper-aware of the early morning sights and sounds and fills me with gratitude that I get to be a part of all this.

When you look at it this way, it’s not what you do, but how you do it. Journaling, painting, needlepoint, running, woodworking, cooking– anything you commit to with intention, anything you come back to again and again.

What are you already doing that aligns you with the most authentic expression of yourself?

That is your PRACTICE.
