I was not always a plant lady. It grew slowly, and then one day, I discovered I was one.
How did I know? I happened across an article that reported that these days, there are more plant ladies than cat ladies.
I saw the article and thought I check out just what defined being a plant lady. The article said you know you are a plant lady if you name your plants.
“Whaaattttt!” I shouted at the article. “You don’t name your plants. They tell you their names as you get to know them.”
As I settled down, I realized I was clearly a plant lady.
It made sense. My one notable ancestor is Laura Ingles Wilder, who wrote Little House on the Prairie.
It started with terrariums and many potted plants in a sunny apartment. I still have many of those plants and now have a front, back, and side yard of dirt to grow in.
The month’s theme of GROW includes our relationship with plants and the other life around us and how this connection positively impacts our health and happiness.
For me, I love the way I have to slow down and notice how they are doing. I love watering them and seeing their changes. I love savoring their beauty and being reminded that all living things have a life span.
