Falling into the rhythm of routine
What I love about summer is the freedom. No school, vacations. The patterns of homework and getting things done is interrupted. It feels good. It’s time to lay in the sun, look at the clouds and the sea and just take a breath. Summer may be a favorite season of yours, or not.
The beautiful thing about seasons in the Philadelphia area is that they change. Having grown up in Louisiana where there are no seasons, I have come to love that nature makes us change every few months in the Philadelphia area.
I used to feel like summer was my favorite season but over this past year I’ve realized there is always something wonderful and something to struggle with in every season. It’s our choice whether to embrace both to see how we can grow within each season.
Fall is surly defined by being back in the saddle. School starts and the routine begins. What things will you be implementing in order to thrive this fall? A new eating plan, reconnecting with friends who were away for the summer, a regular gym schedule, a new weekly yoga class?
Find something that you really love and make it a routine. Revisiting activities is reassuring and grounding. Even when you repeat an activity, each time you come back to it you are different, you are new to it.
So I’m working on my schedule for fall and my new routine. I’m adding in some things I have to do and some things I’ve realized I absolutely must do to stay steady and calm. And I’m leaning into the rhythm of the routine. Can you?
Be well,
